How Digital Signature Certificates Work
Key Generation : The process begins with the generation of a pair of cryptographic keys—a public key and a private key. The private key remains confidential and is used by the signer to create digital signatures.
Signing Process : When a document is signed digitally, the signer applies their private key to the document, creating a digital signature. This signature is unique to both the document and the signer.
Verification : To verify the authenticity of the digital signature, the recipient uses the signer's public key, which is available publicly. The recipient can verify that the document has not been altered since it was signed and that it indeed came from the claimed signer.
